Nearly two decades ago we began offering culinary tours to tell the story of German, Italian, Polish, and Irish immigrants in cities such as Chicago, Milwaukee and Detroit. Our tours quickly captured the hearts of many, prompting us to expand even further across the Great Lakes region. We have quickly grown a fanbase of tour attendees that keep returning and asking, “Can we travel with you?” This enthusiasm led to what we now call Travel Deliciously.
Our initial culinary vacations took us to exciting international destinations like Poland and Cuba, while domestically we explored places like the Kentucky’s Bourbon Trail, Michigan’s Frankenmuth and Indiana’s Amish Country. As we’ve grown, so has the list of destinations and clients. We cater not only to individual explorers but also to corporate groups, incentive trips, and family reunions interested in making memories and enjoying bucket list destinations.
As we build itineraries, food is at the core of what we offer to our guests. We pride ourselves on offering itineraries that allow our travelers to see the bucket list sights, but also delve into the culture through its cuisine and food experiences. We offer intimate encounters, small groups, and delicious excursions. Our itineraries offer activities such as cooking and baking classes, a chance to catch dinner with local fishermen, and the opportunity to travel with local chefs. From my very first international journey at just four months old, travel has been a constant thread in my life’s tapestry. Growing up, I was not just a traveler but also a planner, often helping my father organize group travel adventures to Ireland. This early exposure to the complexities and joys of travel ignited my passion for exploring new cultures and cuisines, further solidified by earning a bachelor’s degree in International Studies.
As the Director of Operations at Travel Deliciously, I bring this lifelong passion, educational background, and a keen eye for detail to every aspect of our operations. My personal travel experiences, from the bustling markets of India to the historic streets of Cuba, the vibrant landscapes of South Korea, and Italy’s culinary richness, deeply influence our tour offerings. These journeys have not only shaped my worldview but also my commitment to creating travel experiences that offer more than just a glimpse into a region’s culture—they’re a deep dive into its lifeblood.
Outside of work, I continue to feed my appetite for travel, always looking for the next adventure that might inspire our next culinary tour or enhance our existing ones. Our Story of Unique Discoveries: Before the days of TripAdvisor and Yelp, we stumbled upon a quaint restaurant overlooking the sea in Positano, Italy early in our traveling years. We watched as the restaurant owner visited with each dinner table declaring repeatedly, “Donne Felici,” (Happy Women) as he topped off the wine glass of every honeymooner in the restaurant. It was a memorable experience that more than two decades later we remember fondly, and is precisely the feeling we strive to create in every trip we offer
